Every day now there are a few more blooming spring irises. The purples and blues are Iris reticulata. The yellow--Iris danfordiae.
The blooms are fragile-appearing and complex, but they are among the earliest bulbs to bloom, after the crocus and snowdrops.
An assurance that beauty need not be large, loud, or surrounded by luxury!
